We get it. There's a ton of information out there about labour and birth.
It can be really hard to discern fact from fiction with all the birth stories out there, social media articles and movies portraying birth in a negative or false way.
Our Goal with this Course is to give you all the information you need in one place about labour and coping.
Most group prenatal classes have moved online over the last year but with busy work schedules and possibly other children to take care of it can be hard to make scheduled classes work.
This course is self-paced so you can start watching the videos right away. Watch them all in one day or whenever you and your partner have time!
It’s totally normal to feel nervous and excited all at the same time when you think about giving birth whether it’s the first, second, third or tenth time!
If you’ve given birth before, maybe you want to feel more prepared this time around.
You want to feel empowered, confident and aware of your options surrounding birth.
Not to worry - after taking our birth classes you will walk away:
- With a sense of trust in your body and what it is capable of
- With a confident Birth Partner who is familiar with birth and knows how to support you
- A clear understanding of Physiological Birth and what you can do during labour to encourage a normal, healthy birth
- Knowing your options (whether you are birthing at home, birth center or hospital) in Birth and how to navigate interventions
- A Birth Plan that you can provide your health providers to help communicate your wishes and preferences regarding care during labour
The Basics
The first thing you need to know is how your body works and the amazing process it goes through to birth a baby. Learning about your anatomy, your hormones and nervous system function is the foundation for understanding how to trust your body while you are in labour.
What to Expect
We then take you through the different stages of labour and help you and your partner learn to recognize the different stages. We teach you what you can do in each stage and generally what to expect. Every labour is so different so we do our best to give examples of different ways labour can unfold!
Navigating Your Options
and Alternatives
Then we explain what options may arise as labour unfolds, what informed consent is and how to make decisions in the moment. We'll talk about birth planning, our best doula tricks to workaround common interventions and how to create a positive birthing experience no matter how it unfolds or what options you choose.
